Welcome to The Curly Clinician! I’m Dashaé Smallwood (pronunciation), I’m 28, and I’m a lifestyle blogger who loves affordable fashion, wellness, home decor, and advocacy. I’m so happy you’ve decided to stop by my little corner of the internet!
A native of Raleigh, NC (where I currently reside), I graduated with a B.S. in Kinesiology (Sports Medicine Concentration) in May of 2017 from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I am a new-graduate Pediatric Physical Therapist, and I graduated from Duke University in May of 2021. Helping others excites me (one of the reasons why I chose the physical therapy profession), so on a whim, I created this blog in November 2017 to guide, mentor, and motivate pre-PT/A students, current PT/A students, and students from other health professions! Information about the journey to becoming a physical therapist was not easy to find when I was applying, so I wanted to help fill this gap.
Over the years, The Curly Clinician has evolved into more than just a space where I share PHYSICAL THERAPY tips. On this blog, you’ll find a little of everything: LIFESTYLE (from relationships to my morning routine), FASHION (from scrubs to what I wear when I’m not working), WELLNESS (including ALLLL the body positivity and mental health), and even BLOGGING tips! While I hope to connect with other healthcare providers and students, I also want to share my life outside of medicine, which includes connecting with other bloggers and content creators. Empowering others to embrace the “everyday” and live authentically is my ultimate goal with my brand!
If you ever have any questions, or just need someone to talk to (I’m an ESFJ, so I’m always up for making new friends), feel free to email me directly at hello@thecurlyclinician.com, or DM me on Instagram anytime! Thanks for stopping by; I hope to see you back soon!
