I know that it is a stressful time for everyone right now, and the stress of applying to PT school makes things even worse . Here are 11 things you can do right now to become a better applicant:
- Get in touch with current PT students
- Volunteer with a COVID hotline
- Study for/take the GRE (I hear you can take it remotely right now!)
- JUST RELAX…focus on personal growth and your mental health
- Reach out to see if you can observe a Telehealth session, this is a unique experience for sure
- Create your own COVID-19 fundraiser (go big or go home right?)
- Start a blog/YouTube channel or a get back to a hobby that you love
- Try to find a mentor
- Practice interviewing via Zoom
- Brush up on your medical terminology
- Take a free class (many major universities are offering free online classes)
I hope these suggestions are helpful! Remember that there is only so much you can do right now. Honestly, enjoy some of this down time! Admissions committees and programs are aware of the current situation and WILL take everything into account when reviewing your application.
PTCAS outlines on their website how they are handling pass/fail course grades, so make sure you are familiar with that! Also, early decision is no longer an option, BUT the PTCAS deadlines will be shifted so that they are earlier. Good luck!
