1. Set timers
I like to use the Forest app for this (so that I stay away from my phone). When studying, I usually go for 45 minutes to an hour before taking a 10-15 minute break. This works for me, but you can always adjust your timing as needed. It is also nice to use this app when I am trying to write a blog post, respond to emails/DMs, clean up, etc. This method is referred to as the “Pomodoro Technique“.
2. Do the “hardest” thing before 12pm
Now this sounds so simple, but trust me it is a GAME-CHANGER. Completing the hardest task on your list (or the task that you really don’t want to do) early makes the rest of your day a breeze. I know I like to procrastinate the “hard” stuff, which is not beneficial. Knock it out E-A-R-L-Y!
3. Limit yourself to 2-3 tasks on your to-do list
There’s no need for you to set yourself up for failure sis. Only choose 2-3 tasks (no more than 5!) to do each day. It is unrealistic to try to complete a laundry list in one day. Plus, you’ll feel so accomplished when you can cross those tasks off! I tend to create a “master” to-do list for the week with everything I need to get done, and then designate certain tasks to different days.
4. Utilize a planner
Y’all should know by now that I LOVE my planner. I recently started using an Erin Condren LifePlanner, and I have. I have an hourly layout, space for my daily “to-do” list, and some blank space for anything else. My planner really helps me keep my life together, I’d be a mess without it.
5. Treat yoself
You are always more willing to do something if you are being rewarded for it, period. Whether that’s watching some Netflix when you are completely finished, or having a snack during your break: don’t forget to treat yourself!
May the productivity gods be ever in your favor!
